History and Overview
School History
Christ Covenant School was founded as a vision of Christ Presbyterian Church. When the church was planted, part of the vision for ministry was to start a school – one that not only pursued academic excellence, but also taught children to think and live as Christians. Upon much prayer and research, it became clear that these educational goals were best pursued through a classical Christian pedagogy.
Christ Covenant opened its doors in the year 2000 to 11 students and ten families. By the next year, enrollment more than tripled, adding three more grades.
Over the last twenty-four years, we have experienced steady growth in enrollment through strong support and encouragement from the local community. In 2007, CCS became the first independent Christian school in Pitt County, as the leaders of Christ Presbyterian Church determined we were ready to stand on our own. Over the last several years, our school has experienced significant growth; we grew to nearly 400 students in 2023-2024.
In the spring of 2017, Christ Covenant Covenant School celebrated our first Senior Class with sixteen graduates. These young men and women were accepted to the most prestigious universities and have demonstrated excellence by obtaining four National Merit Scholarship recommendations, more than any other high school in Pitt County.
As an independent, non-denominational classical Christian school, we represent families from over thirty-five local churches. We are currently members of ERB, and SCL. In 2014, we obtained accreditation status through AdvancED. We have a growing number of godly, experienced teachers and a strong team of administrators. We pray our school will be an effective training ground for equipping godly leaders for Christ for generations to come.
