Events

Pre-Treat – An annual overnight trip for seventh and eighth graders held at The Refuge Christian Camp.  This is a unique opportunity often offered the weekend before school starts. It is a time for fun, fellowship, and friends.  We spend time in group-building activities, discussing tough issues, and enjoying free-time.

Popsicles on the Playground – After the summer, Lower School families come together to visit the teachers and classrooms and drop off their school supplies. After visiting the classroom, they stop by the outside tents to enjoy a popsicle, catch up with and take pictures with friends!

Back-to-School Cookout – The summer is a long time to go without seeing our friends. We welcome Upper School students to come back to school for a cookout with hamburgers and hotdogs provided.  This is also where students receive their locker assignment, as well as meet new teachers for the year.

House Challenges – Each quarter, every house takes a turn at challenging the other houses in an activity they feel is their strength.  Rules are agreed upon and tournament style competitions occur. Past tournaments include kickball, trivia, capture the flag, flag football, dodgeball, and four-square.

Grandparents Day – Christ Covenant recognizes the role grandparents play in God’s plan for our families and the impact grandparents have on our children’s lives of faith. “One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.” Psalm 145:4  This day of celebration begins at the Lower School campus with breakfast and a performance, and ends with a fun run at the Upper School campus, with much festivity in between.

Firepit Fellowship – Smores and more!  Upper school students gather on campus after dark for a fun evening with firepits, snacks, and an outdoor movie (weather permitting).

Spirit Week – Spirit week kicks off our Homecoming celebration. Every year we offer a week where students can be involved as much or as little as they want.  Every day has a different theme where students from JK-12th grade can dress up and celebrate. Past themes include Disney Day, Decade Day, Celebrity Day, Twin Day, Class Color Day, and Occupation Day.  Dress guidelines apply, see the Parent Handbook.

Homecoming – Alumni are always welcome to come back and visit former teachers and classmates, however, annually we offer a week that centers around a homecoming game.  This is a chance for alumni to come back and join our current families in cheering on our athletics. Both Lower and Upper School enjoy Spirit week, which leads us to the big game on Friday night, and then Saturday evening we offer an Upper School exclusive dance with DJ offsite to current students. Mark your calendar for the whole family for this event.

Daddy~Daughter Dance – This event is designated for our CCS fathers and daughters to come together for an evening devoted to celebrate their bond. The inspirational message is one of Christian values along with the support of love and guidance from the fathers to daughters. This dance is one way to spark the cultivation of dads being involved in their daughters’ lives as they journey through the gray areas of our culture. The event was held at Greenville Country Club which included dinner, dancing, memorable photos, much laughter, special moments, and conversation. An event like this with almost 200 guests takes time, coordination and volunteers. We have exceptional service oriented students from the upper school who dedicated their time and talents to make this a huge success. It is our hope that through the annual Father~Daughter Dances each father will take their daughter’s hand, crown her with care, and celebrate a lifelong dance.

Spring Socials – Every spring we offer a chance for grade level appropriate socials for the middle and high school students.  The eleventh and twelfth graders attend the prom, and the seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth graders have their own events.  This is a chance for the different age groups to have an event of their own with food and fun being the connecting point.

Prom – Hosted at an off-sight location, juniors and seniors come together for a night of fun including dinner and dancing.  A DJ provides the music and the dinner is catered. Prior venues include 400 St. Andrews, The Martinsborough Room, Harvey Hall, and The Hilton Greenville.

Spartan Games – Athletics and academics are weighed equally and the competition is always fierce in the annual Spartan Games. House-wide tug of war, water balloon volleyball, Scattergories, and logic puzzles are some of the games played. Activities last half a day. Because the year long competition is so close, the points for this competition can change the overall winner for the year.

Field Day – Lower School students in grades K-6th are divided into 9 teams and compete in various physical events such as jump the creek, balloon races, hoola hoop, limbo, the sack race, tug-of-war, and many more. While our junior kindergarten classes won’t participate in the official field day activities with our older students, they will have an exciting day planned.  Students wear a t-shirt in the color of their assigned team. Throughout the day, water, snacks, shade, and respite can be found at the team tents.  These creatively color-defined tents line the edge of the soccer field and are managed by volunteering parents.
