Junior Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and First Grade

Junior Kindergarten

Christ Covenant offered Junior Kindergarten (JK) beginning in the 2017-18 school year. Our JK program is designed for children who turn four by August 31st.  It is a half-day curriculum, with a similar schedule and tuition to our half-day kindergarten, that will focus on early phonemic, math and fine motor skills in preparation for the CCS kindergarten curriculum. The JK students will be introduced to the Counting With Numbers curriculum from Memoria Press for math, and use “Sing, Spell, Read and Write” to develop pre-reading and writing skills. There will be half-day and full-day options for our JK students.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten is an exciting time! It is a season of tremendous growth and maturity…academically, socially, and spiritually.  At Christ Covenant, our job is to partner with parents. We value every child and strive to challenge your children to reach their best potential in a supportive, encouraging and Christ-like atmosphere. During the grammar school years, students are taught important information through songs, chants, rhymes, recitations, and Bible stories.  Students memorize Bible verses and math facts. They grow in phonemic awareness, reading, math concepts, writing, public speaking, and comprehension.  Classical education helps children to appreciate learning, think independently, and develop a godly character. Parents have an option for full day kindergarten, or you may send your child for half day morning sessions classes. Half day K classes meet from 8 am to 11:45 am, M-F.  Full day K includes lunch, academic reinforcement of math, reading, extra enrichment activity and dismisses at 3:00 with the rest of the Lower School.

First Grade

The joy of learning is the theme for Christ Covenant School’s first grade program! Each day begins with joy as the boys and girls learn more about Jesus through the New Testament fulfillment of God’s promise to redeem man and the study of the ancient world in history. First graders experience the joy of reading through the study of phonics and with our Storytime Treasures book series. First graders continue their academic day with the joy of math using Rod and Staff’s Beginning Arithmetic books one and two. Each day is filled with music, art, and play as we seek to grow in grace, knowledge, and joy!
